Reminiscing – Childhood

birthday wish

To celebrate I wrote you this poem:

Mum mum, oh so fine.
Full of manners when we dine.
Her smile oh so sweet,
I try to get things I beg at your feet.

Happy Birthday

Gift… from child… 6…

Love’s healing

kiss comfort

I shall gather you
Into the arms
Of love’s embrace

Let me ease the pain
Besieging you
With love’s pure heat

In anguish, you shall
Experience, grasp
A moment’s delight

In joyous respite
Remember, know
Love’s healing power.

Time for ‘thank you’

I am finally here to accept  writenlive of Read Write Live’s Liebster Award.  Once again, thank you.  For a novice blogger, it is always gratifying :-).

Well, I have a few people to nominate for this award.  However, I am loathed to lay down the ‘rules’ to them.   I reckon I’ve broken a few of the ‘rules’ myself, so no judgment here.   Now I will merely list the ‘usual’ modus operandi:

1.  Link and thank the person who nominated you

2. Answer the questions asked of you

3. Pick a few bloggers with less than 200 followers to nominate

4. Ask them a few questions

5. Let them know by commenting on one of their posts

Here are my nominees:

Write beside the Sea

Mad Meandering Me

Profane Light

MyTwoSentences

The Dark Night Chronicles

So here are my five questions for the beautiful nominees above:

1. Which beverage is your perfect pairing to a book?

2. Which is your favourite inspirational quote?

3. If you are not you, who would you want to be?

4. What is your favourite song? How did it become your favourite?

5. Three words which best describe you.

Follow the stream

Hawkesbury River 1881

Follow the stream, have faith in its course. It will go its own way, meandering here, trickling there.  It will find the grooves, the cracks, the crevices.

Just follow it.  Never let it out of your sight. It will take you.

Writer’s Quote Wednesday – Hemingway

Silver Threading’s Writer’s Quote Wednesday:

As writers, we must not mind the expectations of others for what we seem to be, for what we ought to be.
Our calling is to be free, to write.

Books

The above was inspired by an article I read about Hemingway – a besotted lover…improbable?  Well, here is a line or two from his letter to his prospective 4th wife.  Not quite as articulate but who cares 🙂

I write in this stupid, moral probably trashy way because one of the loveliest adventures we have had is the one of trying to understand each other. … I want so to make a good life with you…

Good enough

aging hands

Looking at these hands:

– the years of wiping tears as they fall

– the years of holding, soothing the child to sleep

– the years of caressing with deep pain within

– the years of toiling with illusions of happiness

Enough.

No more.

You are good enough, more than this.
