Visions – a poem

female in repose

Visions

Watching you watching me
Your gaze bold
Igniting the ardent flame
Scorches my soul

Flicker of light
Your eyes unwavering
  Seduction of the night
My will unresisting

Touch lingers skin on skin
Familiar terrain now foreign
Yearning swells within
Desire reigns

Lips in sensual motion
Devours possesses
Like alchemic potion
Demands acquiescence

My hands yours
Across valleys and peaks
Depths to explore
Quickening heartbeats

Feeling every caress
Kisses which ease
Every word coaxes
To be free, release

At last accede
To unimagined passion
Heights of ecstasy
Indescribable sensations

My heart dances once more
To rhythm of desires
As it seeks to soar
Across immutable spaces.

Hello LWI Friends,

First of all I want to thank every single one of you for helping LWI get off to such a great start. I think if people saw the Numbers and heard the Buzz about our site they would be surprised. I know I am. That’s only because I was not expecting to have a team of such great people working on the site with me.

In order of their officially joining the team:

Now I wanted tell all of those who have;

That I am happily working on all of them and have not forgotten. I know it may seem at times as though an interview or review is long in coming but…

Lemon Tree – I am perplexed!

And here I am with another song…

Most times, songs strike a chord because it mirrors a life, or inspires one, or triggers a memory, or compels a story.

But this time I am at a lost, perplexed.  I am not sure how I came upon ‘Lemon Tree’ by Fool’s Garden (1995), yet it is a current favourite on my playlist… 🙂

I suspect the upbeat, fun (and comedic?) tune attracted me.  My initial response to the lyrics was ‘how silly?’… then something happened.  The incongruence between the cheery tune and the rather despondent lyrics was irreconcilable.  Or is it?  The irony of the mundane existence is not lost, perhaps a light-hearted attempt to mask the yearning and disappointment, or… is it about loss of perspectives?

Listen, follow the the lyrics…any ideas…?

“Lemon Tree”

I’m sitting here in the boring room
It’s just another rainy Sunday afternoon
I’m wasting my time
I got nothing to do
I’m hanging around
I’m waiting for you
But nothing ever happens and I wonder
I’m driving around in my car
I’m driving too fast
I’m driving too far
I’d like to change my point of view
I feel so lonely
I’m waiting for you
But nothing ever happens and I wonder
I wonder how
I wonder why
Yesterday you told me ’bout the blue blue sky
And all that I can see is just a yellow lemon-tree
I’m turning my head up and down
I’m turning turning turning turning turning around
And all that I can see is just another lemon-tree
Sing, dah…
I’m sitting here
I miss the power
I’d like to go out taking a shower
But there’s a heavy cloud inside my head
I feel so tired
Put myself into bed
While nothing ever happens and I wonder
Isolation is not good for me
Isolation I don’t want to sit on the lemon-tree
I’m steppin’ around in the desert of joy
Baby anyhow I’ll get another toy
And everything will happen and you wonder
I wonder how
I wonder why
Yesterday you told me ’bout the blue blue sky
And all that I can see is just another lemon-tree
I’m turning my head up and down
I’m turning turning turning turning turning around
And all that I can see is just a yellow lemon-tree
Yellow, wonder, wonder
I wonder how
I wonder why
Yesterday you told me ’bout the blue blue sky
And all that I can see, and all that I can see, and all that I can see
Is just a yellow lemon-tree

On second thought, it might just mirror a life… And I wonder…

Leave a light on for me

I excavated this 80s song from the deep dark recesses of my music player.

belinda carlisle Remember her? Pop superstar and former lead vocalist of the all-female band the Go-Gos.

You or someone in your circle would have been, at one point, interested in the…umm song. No? OK, I’m the ‘daggy’ one 🙂  Nevertheless, here is the pop ‘oldie’ from 1989 – Belinda Carlisle’s ‘Leave a light on for Me’.  Enjoy!

Darling leave a light on for me
I’ll be there before you close the door
To give you all the love that you need
Darling leave a light on for me
’cause when the world takes me away
You are still the air that I breathe

Just like a spark lights up the dark
Baby that’s your heart

Writer’s Quote Wednesday – “Let your words live on”

Silver Threading’s Writer’s Quote Wednesday

My, my, my
Let your bright light shine
Let your words live on
Far beyond this life
Beyond this life

Now, doesn’t that remind you of writing…?

This is the chorus from Matchbox 20’s song, “My, My, My”.  This is most likely my favourite song of theirs, because it reminds me of Me.

Enjoy!

A belated Christmas gift

What better way to start the year than with a huge chuckle!

Imagine this:

January 4 … a belated Christmas gift … from a  family member … a gift that keeps giving … produced as a fund raiser for the Children’s Burns Unit, Children’s Hospital Foundation … a 22nd year collaboration with NSW Firefighters … a few pages in … a ‘dedication’.

dedicationTo Florence, how do we look?

Not half as good as you.  Stay HOT!

Marty xx

Uh??!!  Disclaimer: I have never met Marty :-).

And Marty is Mr October! Mr October

Should you be interested in a 2015 calendar for a good cause, go to Firefighters Calendar.

This gift will keep giving for the entire year… Wow, my very own, umm, calendar :-).

Happy New Year everyone!

Looking forward to a year of writing, creating, experimenting and exploring, which I have not done much of but will endeavour to do.
